One of the things I love so much about this little space is that it allows me to learn and grow in the area of photography, specifically food at the moment. I love how I get to express and push myself creatively. It is good for the soul too. Getting to focus on something that I find so fascinating, fun and challenging at the same time brings me joy like nothing else can. I have soooo much to learn about food photography or actually photography in general and this is the perfect place to force me to focus on it and to keep growing. Otherwise another day would pass and life would get in the way and I wouldn't lay a hand on my camera. So it is good for the soul because it is my own identity outside of being a wife and mom that fulfills me and challenges me, I love that.
Lately though I am struggling with what so many other people struggle with, especially moms and that is balance and finding time to do it all. I absolutely love recipe developing and food photography but it is so time consuming and I am struggling to stay on top of posting recipes and pictures regularly. I also love jewelry design but that has gone by the wayside as of lately. Along with all of that, I have my day job that is amazing and I truly feel blessed to be working at. Don't forget the mom and wife thing too! I don't want to let any of them go but I don't want to stretch myself so thin that I am only giving a small percent at each. So balance is what I seek. I want to make sure that I continue to grow and challenge myself... so this is where my new little project emerges. I want my photography to continue to grow and improve, so at those times when I simply cannot accomplish a full recipe and photography post I will simply post a photograph that hopefully you will find inspiring and beautiful.
I start with this photograph. Recently on Facebook my sister challenged me to a five day black and white photography challenge. There is something about how beautiful pears are, so I chose them as my first subject. I absolutely loved them in color but the challenge was for a black and white photography, so I also edited this photo in black and white. I have included both so you could choose your favorite.
