I have been kind of on a smoothie kick lately.  It has been fun to play around with some fall flavors.  I feel like I am echoing everybody else out there when I say that I love pumpkin and all the pumpkin recipes that this time of year calls for.  I also love downing pumpkin smoothies to really get into the fall spirit.  This pumpkin smoothie is still a favorite of mine, try it, it is so good.

This year I didn't want to forget about the apples or pears, the other delicious flavors of fall.  This smoothie tastes like you are eating apple pie with just a hint of pear peaking through.  I think what I love most about this smoothie though is that you don't have to spend time peeling the apples or pears, simply slice them and toss them in the blender.  This is a bonus because the peels contain so many good nutrients.  Make sure to buy these organic though as they contain a higher level of pesticides.

What are your favorite fall recipes and activities?  I love squash and roasted vegetables.  They are my go to this time of year.  I of course love baking with pumpkin too!  As far as activities, we LOVE hiking this time of year.  Okay, we love hiking all year long but there is nothing quite like hiking in the fall, plus you won't melt away like you do in the summer in this desert part of Colorado!  In the next couple of weeks we will also be visiting the pumpkin patch with Cash, which will actually be a first for me too.  We did not have pumpkin patches where I grew up!  Then we are off to the mountains to enjoy some time away, we are so looking forward to this!  October pretty much kicks off our time of celebrating and gift buying.  Kass's birthday is coming up in a little over a week, then mine quickly follows at the beginning of November and then bam you get into the Christmas craziness.  So right now I am racking my brain as to what to get for him for his birthday, why do men have to be so hard to buy for?!

Cinnamon Apple + Pear Smoothie

Serves: 1


  • 1 apple, sliced
  • 1/2 pear, sliced
  • 1/4 c crushed ice
  • 3/4 c coconut milk
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 Tbsp almond butter


  1. Place all the ingredient in a blender, blend until smooth {about 1 min}.  Enjoy!
