I really love this time of year.  Every season has its own special thing to offer up but I find myself growing to love Spring more and more each year.  The excitement of warmer weather, sandals  {eyeing thesethese and these}, maxi dresses, skinny jeans and flowy blouses, fresh flowers, upcoming summer adventures, prepping the garden, longer days, dinners on the patio and the list goes on.

This weekend I plan on getting seeds started for our garden.  Every year I plan on doing this but I always slack off and end up paying more for the plant last minute and end up having limited options.  This year it is my goal to get on it and have the best garden yet.  Aside from that I will of course have to get out for a hike, it is supposed to be in the 70s {the 70s!!!} this weekend so hiking is a must.  Hiking this time of year where we live is the best because it is nice and warm but not too warm, ya know.  That is when we have to head for the mountains {not complaining} and do a little hiking there.  I grew up in the mountains and find that at the change of every season, doesn't matter if it is Fall, Winter, Spring or Summer I really miss the mountains.  Once I settle into the season I am content with where we live but for some reason the excitement of a new season also brings on a yearning for the mountain life.  Weird, I know.

So, onto this tasty beverage.  Sometimes when I consume too many almonds or I indulge in something I probably shouldn't, my digestion gets thrown out of whack.  Right now I am at the end of the 21-Day Sugar Detox and I know that I have been consuming more nuts/nut butter than usual and I have felt it.  One afternoon I was craving some kind of drink/smoothie so I came up with this frosted beverage that stays within the limits of the 21 DSD and it seemed to help my digestion the more I consumed it.  The chia seeds, ginger and cinnamon are all excellent for your digestive system so drink up and here's to a happy tummy!  If you aren't watching your fruit intake closely I think tossing in a frozen banana and a little cacao would be wonderful with this combination.  Side note, Kevita also has helped with digestive issues and holy moly it is addictive.  I discovered it a few years ago and have been in love ever since.  I wish I could drink it everyday.  Haven't tried it?  Well you should and thank me later.  I love the Strawberry Acai Coconut flavor and Pomegranate flavor the most.  Ahh I want one now!  They taste so good and I love the sparkling factor.  Mmmmm.

Healthy Digestion Frosty Beverage

Serves: 1


  • 3 Tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp minced ginger
  • 1 1/2 c full fat coconut milk
  • 2 Tbsp coconut cream {the cream that sits at the top of the coconut milk}
  • 4-6 ice cubes
  • zest from 1 lime
  • extra cinnamon for garnishing
  • cacao


  1. Add all ingredients {except the extra cinnamon and cacao} into a blender and blend until smooth.  Top beverage with a little cinnamon and cacao.  Enjoy!
